As a former planning director, I can provide unique strategic entitlement advice and day-to-day entitlement management to private developer clients. Entitlement services include high level government relations; building those connections that encourage a strong communication between the proponent and city hall, and evaluating and enhancing the community/political landscape.

Planning Administration & Management

This is a competitive market for local governments. It is very important that the planning and city management functions work well together and experience regular strategic retooling to ensure excellent internal and external service. In addition, I can provide short-term planning and city management personnel support.

Our world of planning today often results in conflict. I have proven skills in bringing parties together to attain a result acceptable to all parties.

Community Relations

Private development projects as well as public agency efforts change the physical environment in which we live; these projects often require extensive public dialogue and involvement up front to ensure their ultimate success. I approach this work with an emphasis on community engagement. Afterall, it is better to know going in what challenges lie ahead.

Inter-Government Relations

As our Southern California region continues to grow, conflicts often emerge among local governments or between local governments, regional agencies, and special districts. As planning director in the fast growing Santa Clarita Valley, it was often attention to these multi-agency issues that generated the most success and made the greatest difference to the future of the valley.

Meeting Facilitation

The key to agency administration and development project approval is successful meeting facilitation. This is a skill I have mastered in a variety of settings throughout my career. Meeting facilitation services range from one-time community workshops to team retreat facilitation.
